These authentically designed Scottish swords have a functional 30 ½ inch unsharpened blade. In order to comply with stage combat regulations of many reenactment societies, they have a 1/16th inch edge and a rounded tip on the 1065 high carbon steel blade. The blade is hardened to 50HRC. This blade hardness limits edge-notching to acceptable levels, supplies resilience and protects against brittleness. These battle ready swords are manufactured in China and weigh approximately 2 pounds. Mortuary Swords like this one were types of basket-hilted medieval swords.
